Millions of people across the country will potentially receive money in the first week of June 2025, as a wide bundle of government benefits being rolled out. These payments were given in reaction to inflation and concepts raised in living costs, spanning from social supports to targeted assistance for vulnerable groups. If you qualify, the money should hit your account within the coming days.
Expanded GST/HST Credit Payouts
One highly anticipated payment coming in early June is the enhanced GST/HST credit. This is a tax-free quarterly payment of numerous low and moderate income individuals and families to mostly offset the cost of sales taxes. The government has marginally increased the amount for 2025, and the first payment will assuredly land sometime in the first week of the month.
Canada Child Benefit (CCB) Installment
The monthly Canada Child Benefit also due in the first week of June will be welcomed by parents across the country. This payment assists with the costs of raising children under 18. The benefit is income-tested and tax-free; this support is critical to families in economic strain.
Old Age Security (OAS) and Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
Those seniors currently benefiting under the Old Age Security and Guaranteed Income Supplement will have their payments deposited in the first week of June. These programs are still quite pertinent to contribute income to Canadians 65 and over. For individuals entitled to both OAS and GIS, the total income derived from these two will greatly alleviate the burden of retention during retirement.
Climate Action Incentive Payment (CAIP)
Residents in provinces where federal carbon pricing is applicable are to expect the Climate Action Incentive Payment by early June. As a quarterly rebate, CAIP is meant to give back to the households the bulk of carbon tax revenues. The payments differ depending on the province and in accordance with family size and are disbursed automatically to eligible taxpayers.
Employment Insurance (EI) Regular Payments
If you were receiving Employment Insurance benefits now and are still eligible to do so, another scheduled payment would be due during that first week of June. If unemployed, on parental leave, or qualifying for any special benefits category, expect your timely EI support to keep flowing.
